Attorney Marc A. Moccia is a dedicated third-generation attorney who handles a wide array of civil litigation matters ranging from high asset/high conflict divorce cases, to catastrophic personal injury and medical malpractice, to civil rights cases involving police misconduct. Since joining the Firm in 2011, Attorney Moccia has served as President of the Haverhill Bar Association and is deeply involved in county and state-wide bar leadership, particularly in the field of Family Law. Attorney Moccia has served multiple terms on the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Family Law Section Council, and he currently serves as its Chair. He also serves on the MBA’s Executive Management Board, chairs the MBA’s Governance Committee, and was a Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Association’s inaugural Leadership Academy in 2018. Attorney Moccia is also a member of the Essex County Bar Association’s Board of Directors.
A member of the Massachusetts Family and Probate Inns of Court, Attorney Moccia was recently elected Vice President. Attorney Moccia was also appointed by the Supreme Judicial Court to a two-year term on its Standing Committee on Lawyer Well-Being in 2021 and was re-appointed to the Committee for an additional two-year term in 2021.
In 2012, Attorney Moccia served on the MBA’s prestigious Task Force on the Law, Economy, and Underemployment where he contributed to the Task Force’s 2012 Report entitled “Beginning the Conversation,” exploring the causes of and solutions for underemployment of law student graduates; a report that has received national recognition since its release.
Most recently, Attorney Moccia obtained a $7.7 million verdict for a woman catastrophically injured in an automobile accident. He was also participated in the negotiated settlement of $7 million for a construction worker injured after a fall from scaffolding, and a $4.5 million settlement for the family of a bicyclist killed by a tractor-trailer in Massachusetts. He has also successfully litigated cases involving police misconduct, most recently participating in a settlement in the amount of $400,000 for an individual who asserted that he was the victim of an illegal stop and excessive force by Wakefield Police.
Attorney Moccia has been recognized yearly in The Best Lawyers in America© in the areas of Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs, and Family Law.
