Attorney Janet E. Dutcher is a Senior Associate practicing with KAZAROSIAN COSTELLO LLP and Kazarosian Law Offices since 1988. Attorney Dutcher is a past president of the Haverhill Bar Association and previously sat on the Massachusetts Bar Association’s Joint Bar Committee on Judicial Appointments. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Essex County Bar Association and is the Association’s President. A graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in NY with a Bachelors of Science, she received her Juris Doctorate from Whittier College of Law in California in 1985. Her practice areas include civil litigation,
discrimination,
divorce and family law,
employment law and
personal injury. In addition to practicing in Massachusetts, Attorney Dutcher is also admitted to practice in New Hampshire and California, as well as the US District Court for the Districts of MA and NH, and the First Circuit Court of Appeals. She has extensive trial and litigation experience in Federal, Superior, Probate and District Courts.
In 1999, Attorney Dutcher, along with Attorney Marsha V. Kazarosian, successfully sued the Haverhill Golf and Country Club for gender discrimination. This was the first case of its kind to go to trial in the country, winning a multi-million dollar verdict. As a result of much post-trial litigation and appeals that reached the highest court in the Commonwealth, their victory in
Borne, et al. v. Haverhill Golf and Country Club, Inc., became a landmark case in the nation for gender discrimination in a country club/membership based setting.
